At Safiri Safari, we believe that tourism is not just about exploration—it’s also about creating a balance between people, nature, and the economy. While our guests enjoy breathtaking wildlife experiences, we work behind the scenes to ensure that the income generated from tourism contributes directly to sustainable livelihoods and community resilience.
Tourism Supporting Farming
A portion of the revenue earned from Safiri Safari’s operations is reinvested into farming initiatives. This approach ensures that our presence in Tanzania goes beyond safari adventures and wildlife conservation—it actively supports food security and local economic growth.
This summer, our efforts have focused on planting beans in Lake Manyara and in Simanjiro, south of Arusha. Beans are not only a staple food but also a climate-friendly crop that enriches soil fertility by fixing nitrogen naturally. This reduces the need for chemical fertilizers, keeps the soil healthy, and contributes to long-term agricultural sustainability.
Creating a Balance for Livelihoods
By linking tourism with farming, Safiri Safari helps create a balance in livelihoods. Our workforce is not solely dependent on tourism seasons; they also gain from farming projects that provide food and additional income. This reduces vulnerability to market fluctuations and seasonal changes in the travel industry.
For our staff and the wider community, this approach means more stability, stronger household food security, and a sense of ownership in sustainable development. Guests who travel with us also play a direct role in this positive cycle—every safari booked helps a farmer plant more crops and a family gain more resilience.
Sustainability at the Core
Sustainability for us is not just about conserving wildlife—it’s about nurturing communities. By investing in farming, Safiri Safari ensures that our workforce and partner communities have access to more than just employment. They gain long-term security, diversified livelihoods, and a healthier environment.
From the plains of Simanjiro to the fertile soils of Lake Manyara, our commitment is clear: tourism and farming can go hand in hand, creating a shared future where people and nature thrive together.
