Operating as a specialized regional extension of Kenya’s established Tropic Air, Tropic Helicopters Tanzania provides high-end aerial excursions and charter transfers based out of the dedicated Tango Tango Zulu Heliport at Dolly Estate in Usa River, Arusha. The fleet primarily consists of modern Airbus H125 (AS350 B3) and spacious H130 T2 helicopters—aircraft specifically chosen for their high-altitude performance, smooth Fenestron tail rotors, and large bubble-cockpit windows that deliver panoramic views for every passenger.
Once airborne, low-altitude flying turns every flight path into an immersive safari experience, with wide-opening doors and noise-canceling headsets allowing seamless interaction with the pilot. Depending on your chosen route, you can orbit eye-level with the 5,895-meter summit and glaciers of Mount Kilimanjaro, gaze directly into the active ash crater of Ol Doinyo Lengai, watch thousands of pink flamingos swirl over the mudflats of Lake Natron, or sweep over the vast expanse of the Ngorongoro Crater floor before landing smoothly at remote luxury safari lodges.
Taking off from the Tango Tango Zulu Heliport at Dolly Estate, the helicopter begins a steady ascent across the forested lower slopes and alpine deserts of Mount Kilimanjaro. As you climb toward the highest point in Africa, the flight levels off to orbit directly alongside the 5,895-meter summit. You get an extraordinary, eye level vantage point of the Kibo Crater rim, the glowing blue ice walls of the Furtwängler Glacier, and the jagged, ancient peaks of Mawenzi.
Departing Arusha toward the Great Rift Valley, this route tracks the dramatic geological drop-offs and open plains toward Lake Natron. The aircraft circles over Ol Doinyo Lengai, allowing you to gaze straight into the active, ash dusted volcanic crater. From there, the flight glides low across Lake Natron, where millions of lesser flamingos create striking pink swirls against the deep crimson and alkaline mudflats below.
Flying west across the lush Arusha highlands, this path passes over Lake Duluti and the dense forest canopy of Lake Empakaai before reaching the world-famous caldera. The helicopter tracks along the rim to give you a full, uninterrupted sweep of the entire 20 kilometer wide crater floor. You can clearly spot migratory wildlife herds, soda lakes, and traditional Maasai bomas tucked into the highland hills.
Designed to skip long dirt-road drives between parks, this direct aerial transit connects Arusha directly with private luxury camps in the Serengeti, Tarangire, or Lake Manyara. Flying at a lower, game viewing altitude transforms standard travel time into an active safari flight over rivers, winding escarpments, and wildlife herds.
