Oldonyo-Sambu a Masai name which translates to “a village of small huts” is located Thirty Five (35) Kilometres North from Arusha town. At this village, Mount Meru rises with thick forest covering the high hills of the Masai Land. Under Arusha Forest Reserve initiative, people from this area have managed to live with and manage the large forest surrounding Mount Meru. Making this the perfect destination for a full day hike. This area filled with Pine trees and so many more vegetation attracts a large population of birds and Monkeys, from the unique African Stone Chat to the majestic male Pin-Tailed Whydah. This hiking destination also gives a rare view of the unique shy White and Black Colobuses monkey. Hiking around here as been reviewed to be perfect for Birds and landscape photography. With picnic lunch deep in the forest.
