Overview

The Lemosho Route is considered one of the most scenic and challenging routes to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. This route is known for its breathtaking landscapes and diverse ecosystems

Renowned for its stunning and varied landscapes, offering trekkers panoramic views, lush rain-forests, alpine meadows, and the iconic Shira Plateau. It is considered a challenging route, providing a longer and more gradual ascent, which increases acclimatization chances for climbers. The longer duration contributes to a higher success rate in reaching the summit.

8 days, allowing climbers to acclimatize properly and increase their chances of reaching the Uhuru Peak successfully. The longer duration also allows for more time to enjoy the scenic beauty of the various ecological zones encountered during the climb. Starting on the western side of Mount Kilimanjaro. Trekkers usually drive from Moshi to the Londorossi Gate to begin the climb.

The initial days involve trekking through the lush rain-forest, offering a chance to observe a variety of plant and animal species, including Colobus monkeys and a variety of bird species in the lower rain-forest zones. As the climb progresses, the landscape transforms into heath and moorland, characterized by unique vegetation adapted to higher altitudes.

A highlight of the Lemosho Route is the traverse of the Shira Plateau, an expansive high-altitude desert with stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. The longer duration and gradual ascent of the Lemosho Route provide climbers with better acclimatization opportunities, reducing the risk of altitude-related issues.
